Message: Hello Gurus,
I want to build a physical standby and is it mandatory to create
standby redo logs? We are never going to switch roles of Primary and
standby. Is it possible to create standby redo logs only on standby
database not on primary DB? if yes what will be impact on primary DB?

I'm not saying that I cannot imagine a standby never being used. But I
would not build this in a way that would cause me to have more work in
case I do need to failover to this standby. Or even if I decide that it
would be beneficial to do a switchover for patching to minimize
downtime of production.
The reason I would plan like this is, that the space required to create
the additional standby redo log files is usually negligible. The simply
do not take up so much space that it would hurt you to create them.
But if you create them (even better if you had the chance to test them
with a switchover) you could more or less forget about them. Meaning:
If you have a situation where you actually need to open your standby as
primary (usually these are stressful situations) you don't have to
think about the standby redo log files.
But as I said:
Is it possible to create standby redo logs only on standby database not
on primary DB?
Yes, you can create them on the standby after building the standby. In
this case you'll only have them on the standby.
if yes what will be impact on primary DB?
No. This will not impact the primary in any way. The recommendation to
create standby redo log files on both sides is designed to avoid the
work of creating them in a high-stress-situation.
